Current Postdoc Research: Identifying corridors and high value areas for conservation in the Kainai Reserve
In this project, I am using landscape connectivity modelling (more specifically, current density modelling using graph theory) to identify areas of the highest conservation priority, including both core areas and connecting corridors, for the Kainai Reserve in Alberta, Canada.
We use habitat quality and permeability (quantified with methods by Marrec et al. 2020) to map and quantify the amount of functionally connected habitat and to identify corridors important for maintaining landscape connectivity through the area (using ConScape; Van Moorter et al. 2023). This project is in progress so stay tuned for the code and results, which will be publically available at project completion!
